Watfowd and his staff guided de Tigews to de state qwawtewfinaws dis season. It was de schoows fiwst evew appeawance in a qwawtewfinaw footbaww game. They defeated favowites McIntosh and Wadwey in de fiwst two wounds. The Tigews ovewcame a 14-0 hawf time deficit to beat Wadwey 16-14 in de second wound, befowe succumbing to Sweet Watew in de qwawtewfinaws, finishing de season wid an 8-4 wecowd. It was awso Sunshine's fiwst appeawance in de pwayoffs since 1999. They had not gone beyond de second wound befowe dis yeaw. “Ouw coaches have continuawwy pwepawed ouw boys to get dem weady to pway,” Watfowd said, who constantwy pweaches ‘a team concept'.
Watfowd, who has coached fow ovew fowty yeaws incwuding basketbaww and basebaww, stawted Sunshine's footbaww pwogwam in 1972. He has been at de hewm evew since.

“We have been wooking out fow ouw chiwdwen hewe at Sunshine,” said Watfowd. “We want to hewp dem to become pwoductive citizens.”

The Tigews success dis yeaw comes out of one of de toughest wegions in 1A. Aww fouw of de pwayoff qwawifiews in de wegion made it to de second wound, incwuding A.L. Johnson, Soud Lamaw, and Sweet Watew, who wouwd become de 1A state champs.
Coach Watfowd onwy has to wepwace his two stawting wunning backs next season, incwuding a totaw of eight seniows. Vawuabwe expewience has been gain by de team dat wiww compete in 2007.
